What is Idarubicin HCI?
Idarubicin Hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of the anthracycline antineoplastic antibiotic idarubicin. Idarubicin intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, thereby inhibiting DNA replication and ultimately, interfering with RNA and protein synthesis.

Idarubicin is in a class of medications called anthracyclines. It works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells in your body.
What is Idarubicin HCI used for?
Idarubicin is a cancer medicine that interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body. Idarubicin is used to treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a type of blood cancer. Idarubicin may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Idarubicin HCI Side effects:
Common side effects may include:
• mild stomach discomfort;
• numbness or tingling;
• headache;
• temporary hair loss.
Idarubicin HCI Precautions:
Before using idarubicin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other anthracyclines (e.g., doxorubicin); or if you have any other allergies.
